Fine motor skills & deductive reasoning
It's pretty exciting to see Mandy's fine motor skills & deductive reasoning develop. I warn you - this is going to be boring to anyone who is not a parent of Mandy...
It started when we bought our grandson a big truck filled with Mega Blocks (oversized, baby legos). For about 2 weeks, we would put them together and she would pull them apart, but a couple of days ago, I noticed her pressing two together. So I held one upright & she attached the other. Now, she puts two together every time she's around them and will even turn one over if need be. Exciting stuff for me.
Then we were playing in her little blow-up pool last night. It has these blown-up stars that attach with velcro to an arch going over the pool. If you try to just grab the stars & pull, you have only succeeded in pulling the arch down, but if you grab the top of the velcro tab, you can peel it off the arch. It was exciting to me to see her figure this out.
She's also rubbing a brush on her head - not necessarily the bristle side of the brush & not necessarily the right way, but still. And yesterday, she mimicked me windexing the coffee table, which of course means that it will never be clean again even for a minute, but it sure was cute.
In the just plain cute department, Mike has started chasing her around the house growling, which she loves - giggling & constantly looking back to make sure he's still there - and last night she growled back at him. You had to be there, but a 1 year old sure is cute when they growl!
And just watching her walk is adorable to me. She'll be walking so well for so long & all the sudden it looks like gravity moved on her - oops, it's no longer coming from the bottom but has switched to the right - and down she goes. And of course, all steps look very exaggerated and include the arms held way up high for balance. It's so very cute.
Still not saying daddy. I've been trying to work with her, but every time I say daddy, she juts her little chin out, almost defiantly, and says "mama." Melts my heart.
