First haircut

I wondered whether I could do this myself, and I know Jennifer does, but she also mills her own wheat & smocks Easter dresses for her kids. I learned a long time ago, just because Jennifer does something, doesn't mean I can - or want to.

As it was, I had to physically restrain her pretty much thru the whole thing. That's why I only have before & after pictures - the rest of the time, I had her on my lap, with my arms wrapped around hers, and with her head up against mine trying to keep her from swinging it around. She was not happy.

But it's cut. And even though it's short enough to look like a boy's cut, it looks a lot better than it did. She had a few long hairs in the back that looked scraggly. And since she won't tolerate barrettes, her bangs had to be cut.

The lady that cut it was wonderful. Very patient & skillful at hitting moving targets. I really liked her upbeat personality & loved how she handled Mandy. Unfortunately, I totally stiffed her on a tip. During the checkout process, I thought she was asking me if I wanted any cash back - she certainly never said the word "tip." I got to the point of putting in my pin & asked her at what point I was supposed to add the tip. She said that was what she just asked me. Oops. I may drop it back by the next time I'm in the area or something. No one dealing with Mandy deserves to be stiffed on a tip.

On an unrelated note, I absolutely hate it when people take it upon themselves to deal with my child. In the waiting room, Mandy was acting like a toddler. I couldn't very well let her run amok, so I was making her either sit on my lap, or in the chair next to me. I gave her some snacks and toys to try to occupy her, but Mandy being Mandy, she wanted nothing more than to get down & examine all the fancy bottles of salon products. She got upset when I wouldn't let her, but I'm ok with that. This elderly lady - I'm sure she thought she was being very helpful - tried to entertain her with pictures of jewelry in a catalog. Mandy's not into jewelry yet. Then Mandy got mad at me for not letting her down, so she threw her toys across the room. Well, in my house, when you throw toys in anger, you lose the toys. Again, this usually makes her cry, but I'm ok with that. The lady revamped her efforts and just plain got on my nerves. She's a toddler. She was just told no & she's going to cry a minute. Just let it run it's course and stay out of our business. That was my little rant for the day, because I was totally polite to the lady who thought she was being so very helpful.
